Steve Thunder, BSE, COHC - Acoustical Engineer

Steve Thunder is an acoustical engineer with a degree in engineering from Purdue University. He has experience in planning, preparing for, and conducting field noise testing. In addition, he has conducted laboratory analysis of recorded samples, and has prepared full reports. He has experience in analyzing acoustical problems involving environmental, community, industrial and occupational noise. Steve is also qualified to conduct audiometric testing for companies complying with OSHA’s hearing conservation regulations, and during our audiometric testing and hearing conservation seminars he supervises the audiometric testing practicum component and lectures about sound exposure surveys.

Steve has worked at Acoustic Associates (acoustical consulting) and Noise Barriers (acoustical products manufacturing) since early 2008. At Acoustic Associates he has developed his ability in all aspects of consulting. At Noise Barriers he is constantly working to improve the acoustical design of products. Previously, Steve has worked at the Huff Company (installation of sound control devices) to develop his understanding of the common practices in sound control and the installation procedures. He has also worked at Etymotic Research (hearing technology) to develop his understanding of the ear, hearing instrument technology, and the engineering process. Additionally, Steve was a Big Ten Athlete at Purdue where he gained experience in front of crowds as large as 60,000 people as a member of the Cheerleading Team. Steve gained experience as a leader as a founder, treasurer, and president of the Purdue Cheer and Stunt Club as well as a group leader for EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service). Steve was able to accomplish this while receiving a nationally ranked top ten education in engineering at Purdue.
