Stephen A. Hallenbeck, AuD
Dr. Hallenbeck serves as an audiologist in our practice. He has experience pertaining to a variety of issues ![]()
including auditory diagnostics, amplification, electrophysiology, treatment, hearing conservation, and noise assessment. His main responsibility is occupational noise assessment, audiometric analysis, worker compensation reviews, and hearing conservation program auditing. Steve also teaches in and supervises the practicum component of our audiometry and hearing conservation seminars which are certified by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation.
Education: Rush University Medical Center, AuD (Audiology) 2005 Elmhurst College, BA (Bachelor of Arts, Music Business Major) 1999Certification: Illinois Department of Professional Regulations – Licensed AudiologistExperience: As part of his doctoral program at Rush University, Steve obtained experience in occupational noise assessment and hearing conservation. Here, he performed audiometric testing, interpretation, and reviews for employees exposed to noise. He has maintained threshold databases and monitored for threshold shifts. In addition, he performed noise assessments of industrial sites and fit custom molded hearing protection devices for industrial employees, musicians, and recreation enthusiasts. During his doctoral training, Steve completed clinical practicums at Rush University Medical Center, Westlake Hospital, Lake Forest Hospital, Veterans Administration, Loyola University Medical Center, and Chicago Hearing Services. He later served in a variety of positions including customer support audiologist for GN Otometrics, clinical audiologist for Rush University Medical Center, and clinical audiologist for Chicago Hearing Services. Steve has teaching experience at Rush University Medical Center and the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. In addition, he has given presentations to the Illinois Academy of Audiology and the Illinois Speech, Language, and Hearing Association.
